IE conducted controls optimisation for schools where initial energy management contact by LA has identified that controls are problematic.

Introduction
This Local Authority has its own in house energy advisor who can deliver advice to schools but benefits from being able to obtain the technical knowledge and experience from IE to optimise the full range of heating controllers aligned to the way schools use their buildings.
What we did
Matt had previously delivered high levels of energy savings in two of the largest schools in Central Bedfordshire. This came to the attention of the council’s school energy manager who then invited IE to deliver energy saving workshops to a number of school energy conferences and provide in depth technical implementation of controls adjustments on the estate.

This is a long-term arrangement with the council’s energy manager, where every school with any controls issues or problems is identified and put in contact with IE to address these. IE has attended several schools and optimised a range of controls from TREND and Priva to DC1100’s. This work has provided high levels of energy saving with payback in 6 to 8 weeks.

Typically savings have been between 15% to 30% of gas consumption. Delivery typically takes just one days and costs less than £1,000.

Controls optimisation is a very cost effective action for schools to take and IE has the expertise and experience to deliver it.
